In addition to private donations, Mindful Living has been the grateful recipient of assistance from the following programs:

Ongoing: Chicago Greencorps Plant Distribution Days

Five times a year, this Chicago city program distributes free annuals, perennials, bulbs, seeds, and vegetables to public gardens.  These distribution days ensure that Mindful Living will always have things to grow in its beautiful raised beds.

2009 Grant: Fiskars Project Orange Thumb
One of only 22 U.S. recipients for this grant, Mindful Living received $1,000 worth of Fiskars professional gardening tools and $1,000 towards green goods (mulch, compost, plants and seeds).

2010 Grant: Chicago Greencorps Garden Assistance
This amazing two-year program combines gardening workshops with professional horticulturist expertise, installation from job trainees, and access to Greencorps garden materials. With acceptance into this program in 2010, Mindful Living acquired two new raised beds and a custom three-bin compost system, all built and installed by Greencorps job trainees. In 2011, they returned to enclose two beds with a sturdy hoop house for early seed-starting, complete with interior shelving. They even fulfilled our biggest dream by designing and building Greencorps' first full-sized tool shed (with room for future chickens!). A huge thanks to all the Chicago Greencorps job trainees, who are doing great work for their city, the environment, and their futures.
